First Virtual Jog & Bike Ride Released

October 3, 2007 by Wayne Jacobs

Maine's Mt. Desert Island Virtual Jog & Bike Ride is our twelfth Virtual Experience DVD and the first in a new series of faster Virtual Jogs and Bike Rides. Filmed in Maine's beautiful Acadia National Park, it begins at the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the east coast. After descending 1,500 feet, the virtual jog and bike ride continues along Acadia National Park's 26 mile Loop Road.

Kathi and I filmed this DVD during a May 2007 visit to Bar Harbor, Maine. Kathi had booked us into The Inn at Bay Ledge, an elegant bed and breakfast owned and managed by Jack and Jeani Ochtera. This inn is aptly named due to its perch atop an 80-foot cliff overlooking beautiful Frenchman Bay. Our hosts were most accommodating and The Inn at Bay Ledge was the perfect location for exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Since this was our first virtual jog and bike ride, we had many technical problems to solve before filming. In fact, numerous test shoots had taken place months earlier in both North and South Carolina. One by one, problems were solved, and we were confident that filming on location in Maine would be successful and it was. We were fortunate that the weather cooperated with us during our 4 day stay.

Kathi fell in love with Maine and particularly the Mount Desert Island area. And visiting in early May, before the "season" actually begins, made our stay even more enjoyable. The only down side was that the lobster pounds had not yet opened, but Kathi was still able to have lobster at a restaurant in Bar Harbor.

Soon to follow are Virtual Jogs and Bike Rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Autumn, through the Hollywood Hills and past the homes of celebrities and movie stars, and a Jog and Bike Ride through the most exclusive zip code in the USA: 90210 - Beverly Hills, California.

These new Virtual Jogs and Bike Rides are filmed at an average speed of 12 miles per hour.
